Percentage Calculator

Find a percentage of a number, what percent one number is of another, or the percentage change between two values.

Formula

X% of Y = X ÷ 100 × Y. X is what % of Y = X ÷ Y × 100. Percent change from X to Y = (Y − X) ÷ |X| × 100.

Example: 15% of 200 = 30. And 30 is 15% of 200. A change from 50 to 75 is +50%, and a change from 80 to 60 is −25%.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a discount?

Choose X% of Y. A 25% discount on an $80 item is 25% of 80 = $20, so the sale price is $60.

How do I find percent increase or decrease?

Choose percent change, enter the old value as X and the new value as Y. A positive result is an increase and a negative result is a decrease.

Why is there no result when X is zero in a percent change?

Percent change is measured against the starting value X, and you cannot divide by zero.
